SXSW 2023 – Write Now: Rewriting the Women in Comedy Narrative Meet Up

The comedy industry is undergoing a very deliberate shift, as powerful and dynamic women shatter the glass ceiling of funny business to rewrite a woman’s place in comedy. Entertainment companies across the industry need to elevate women across mediums to diversify ideas and bring in new audiences. 

Hosted by Thai Randolph and Candice Wilson Cherry, the powerful female executives of Hartbeat, Kevin Hart's global entertainment company, and founders of “Women Write Now” – a screenwriting fellowship developed in partnership with Sundance Institute to champion the next generation of Black women in comedy – this intimate meet up will dive deep into a woman’s place in a male-dominated industry that has traditionally been a boy’s club to explore the need for female representation with one simple truth – that women’s voices are critical in comedy.
