But before we do all that, how do we figure out if the idea in our head would work better as a screenplay or a novel? Why does that even matter in today’s world of books and films becoming almost interchangeable?

This webinar will give Tim the chance to explain why thinking about your idea in these terms is important, how you go about figuring out the answer to this question, and tips for bringing your potentially amazing idea to life.

This 12-week course guides students through the process of building a feature film script, starting with an outline and continuing through all the acts of your screenplay. The writing critiques in this course are tailored to develop specific skills needed to succeed as a feature film writer. You will get expert guidance on your writing along the way, and helpful self-tests allow you to reinforce your mastery of the lecture content.

Each session includes a written lecture, a self test to reinforce your learning, creative exercises to take the lesson further, and a writing assignment to turn in for personalized feedback from your instructor.

Television pilot writing was once a carefully guarded inner sanctum limited almost exclusively to showbiz insiders. With the recent explosion of successful cable dramas and Internet viewing, it’s now possible for writers without a strong track record or network connections to get producers and executives to read and sometimes even buy their pilot scripts. If you sell a pilot, you’ve reached the pinnacle of TV writing success. It’s extremely satisfying to see your brainchild come to life on the screen, and it can lead to an extremely lucrative career in writing, production, or “show-running.”

In this course, you will learn the tools professional screenwriters use to finish high-quality scripts under deadlines. By the end of this course, you will have completed and received professional feedback on a script for your drama pilot.

Each session includes a written lecture, creative exercises to further your learning, and a writing assignment to turn in for personalized feedback from your instructor.

A strong series bible is a crucial sales tool for your series. This course will help you get your TV series ready for an executive by developing your series premise, honing your pilot, and writing your series bible.

Although not necessary, it would be helpful for students to have draft of their pilot or at least an outline before beginning this course.

Each session includes a written lecture, creative exercises to further your learning, and a writing assignment to turn in for personalized feedback from your instructor.
