In this four-week course, an established executive producer/showrunner will give you an inside look at the world of dramatic, episodic television. You will explore—and practice—the actual process involved in successfully writing a spec episodic script that will open doors across Hollywood.

Please note that this class focuses on dramatic writing and is not suitable for writers wishing to focus on sitcoms.

Each session includes a written lecture, creative exercises to further your learning, and a writing assignment to turn in for personalized feedback from your instructor.

Course Dates: 04/02/2026 - 04/30/2026

This course will show you, step-by-step, how to write script coverage. We will cover key elements of screenwriting coverage, including writing a synopsis, analyzing a script, writing an evaluation, script formatting, and finding work as a reader. Whether you want to become a script reader, a story analyst, or just want to polish up your own script, a solid understanding of format and script structure will be essential. Writers put on a different hat after a script is written: revising a script is a different skill set than creating one.

Each session includes a written lecture and a writing assignment to turn in for personalized feedback from your instructor.

Course Dates: 04/09/2026 - 06/04/2026

Many contests hire readers (script analysts) to first score the submissions and they choose which ones will advance to the judges. This course will teach you specific ways to drastically increase the readability of your pages, make your dialogue and description sing, and improve the clarity and structure of your script so you can have a better shot at advancing to the next round. You’ll also learn common pitfalls to sidestep that will help your chances of success. Finally, you’ll be introduced to which writing competitions are most beneficial to enter, and other resources to make the most of each contest season.

This workshop is a one week intensive. There are three video lectures for you to view over the week, and one writing assignment at the end of the course for your instructor to critique.

We’ve made the anxiety-producing process of treatment writing simple with our ground-breaking approach to the form. By the end of this workshop, you will have a strong treatment and a solid log line for your screenplay that has been vetted by an industry professional.

Each session includes a written lecture detailing the session’s topic. At the end of each session, writing exercises will help you apply and practice the information and insights you've learned. Your instructor will then provide personalized feedback on your assignments.
