Pitch Sales Scorecard

Aaaand we’re back, after taking the post-Independence Day week off. For those of you who were on vacation that week, here’s a link to the Spec Market Roundup for June we published on July 2. As you’ll see, we highlighted the fact that 2012’s mid-year total spec sales were up 28.3% over the same period in 2011.

In comparison, pitch sales are down year-over-year, but that’s no surprise considering how strong May, June and July were in 2011. All in, 2012 is tracking out to be a solid year for original material, with combined spec and pitch sales numbers at the half up 8.7% over 2011.

Here are our favorite highlights since the last Pitch Sales Scorecard:

  • Despite the holiday and last week’s Comic-Con, there were 9 pitch sales in the past four weeks.
  • Disney’s 3 pitch purchases in June jumps the studio into a tie for third place with New Line among the studios, with 4 each. Warner Bros. and Universal are tied for first with 7 each, and Paramount and Columbia are tied for second with 6 each.
  • WME continued its steady march with four pitch sales over the past four weeks putting its year-to-date total at 16. Gersh, Paradigm and Verve were in the mix, too, with one each.

Enjoy the grids.
