The New York Film Academy was founded on the philosophy that "learning by doing" combined with current industry practices provides students with the most valuable education. We offer short-term, AFA, BFA, MA and MFA programs in Screenwriting, Filmmaking, Acting, Producing, Cinematography, Documentary, Photography, Animation and Game Design.
We have our next Open House on Friday, November 15 at 1pm. It's a chance to meet the school's Faculty and see just what NYFA has to offer.

There’s no better way to commence a screenwriting career than with a quality education. That’s why we’ve partnered with the prestigious New York Film Academy (NYFA) for a contest that awards six winners with scholarships to NYFA's 8-Week Screenwriting Workshop. This program is valued at $3,300 per scholarship, and results in a completed screenplay.
Here’s how it works:
- Contestants create a "one-sheet" based on their screenplay idea, which will serve as the initial concept for the 8-Week Screenwriting Workshop.
- Submit your one-sheet to be judged by distinguished faculty and industry experts.
- Six winners will be chosen from the submissions for attendance in the NYFA 8-Week Screenwriting Workshop
- The six winners start their NYFA 8-Week Screenwriting Workshop at the beginning of 2014

About the NYFA 8-Week Screenwriting Program
The New York Film Academy has distilled the essential elements from the world's best screenwriting program to create an intensive screenwriting workshop. It is designed for individuals with little or no screenwriting experience who are ready, willing, and able to work and learn within a fast-paced, high pressure, focused environment.
With strict adherence to the rituals of writing and learning, students have the opportunity to develop a feature length screenplay of 90-120 pages. The goal is to finish the course with a first draft on an original screenplay.
