As I perused Twitter today, I came across not only an awesome screenwriting website but also the fabulous woman behind it, Amanda Pendolino@amandapendo. I stalked her site a bit before contacting her, later realizing we have multiple friends in common.
Lesson to learn: You never know who knows someone who knows someone, etc. Be kind. Be real. Be polite. Communicate. Wait, this isn't my Balls of Steel column. Back to Amanda's website.
The Aspiring TV Writer and Screenwriter Blog is less about the craft of screenwriting and more about becoming an assistant, getting an internship, going to film school, networking online and off, and finding representation, amongst other things. Amanda has a few regular contributors from the industry who round out her insights.
"Amanda is a professional screenwriter and script reader who started this blog when she moved to LA in 2007. Before launching a weird freelance life, she worked her way up from the mailroom to a feature lit desk at a talent agency. She writes features and sitcoms about awesome ladies."
Amanda's advice is straightforward, engaging, honest, and bulging with fantastic information on job searches, writing late-night TV, internships, fellowships... the list goes on.
Check Amanda's site out and be sure to follow her on Twitter at @amandapendo.
Finds like this are one of the many reasons you should spend time engaging with others on social media sites. Just sayin'.
