Phil Lord and Chris Miller were readying for a meeting at Sony when they found out their favorite children’s book — Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs — had gone into turnaround. Through some savvy screenwriter maneuvers, they were able to convince Sony that Cloudy should be the duo’s next project.
