As a writer myself, I know how hard it can be to find just the right gift to help the writer in your life achieve their storytelling dreams. When I first started writing 14 years ago, I didn't know what products were worth adding to my writing toolbox, but as I learned more about the screenwriting industry, it became clear to me what I really needed.

To save you the struggles of wading through thousands of products, I wanted to share some of my must-have favorites! Here are some of the products I wish I had when I started screenwriting:

Tough Love Screenwriting by John Jarrell: If you want someone who speaks from truth, with no sugar coating, John's the man. This book isn't for the faint of heart, as John will hit you between the eyes with pure, unfiltered truth of the path from aspiring to produced screenwriter. Save 50%

Lee Jessup's Getting It Write: An Insider's Guide to a Screenwriting Career sheds more light on how to take the proper steps to build a satisfying and successful screenwriting career. Like John's book above, I wish this resource was available when I first started my writing career.

One of the most important lessons I have learned over the years is not to even write the story unless it'll attract an executive's attention. The on-demand webinar Story Concepts that Sell by Scott Myers will help you elevate your concept to a level to attract an executive's attention. Scott is one of the most popular screenwriting teachers out there. You won't want to miss this one. Save 50%

Save The Cat! Structure Software version 3.0 helps you organize all of your thoughts in order to outline like a pro! Not only is the software on sale, but when you buy it now, you'll get a free PDF of 60 Beat Sheets of top movies from Blake Snyder's archives! Save 22%

Movie Magic Screenwriter is the first screenwriting software I purchased. Yes, I own Final Draft, too. Both are great, but since I write with a writing partner, I prefer the notes features on Movie Magic. I can color code them, plus they stay open on the page, so I can easily see them without having to click on a box. If you're guessing I have a messy desk, you're right! Save 60%

The Pocket Screenwriting Guide: 120 Tips for Getting to FADE OUT by Anthony Grieco and Mario O. Moreno is a concise, gem of a book that gets you from FADE IN to FADE OUT with ease. It makes a perfect stocking stuffer for the writer in your life... or yourself! Save 50%
