Coming Back Home: Script’s New Editor, Sadie Dean
Meet Script’s New Editor, Sadie Dean
It’s such an honor to be taking the helm as the new Editor of Script. I’ve been a fan and avid reader of Script since becoming a writer myself. I have rather large shoes to fill - my predecessor Jeanne Veillette Bowerman (now an Executive at Pipeline Media Group and Managing Editor of Pipeline Artists) and founder and Editor-in-Chief Shelly Mellott (now President of Final Draft). I’m forever in awe of these two trailblazing masters.
Many of you may not know this fun fact, but this is kind of like coming back home for me as I put the Editor of Script hat on (or in this case, slipping into large shoes). I worked with the incredible team at The Writers Store for nearly five years and witnessed many writers blossom and succeed. During my time at The Writers Store, I managed events, contests, education, the ScriptXpert service, and programmed the Screenwriters World Conference both on the East and West coast. I also had the utmost pleasure of working in tandem with Jeanne V. Bowerman and the event team at Writer’s Digest. I continued to serve the screenwriting community at various companies such as Stage 32 and Final Draft for several years after – and here I am, back again.
As a writer myself, I’ve been optioned, written on spec, and have had my short scripts produced. On the filmmaking side, I’ve worked as a Script Supervisor on large-scale projects for WB, TBS, and AwesomenessTV, as well as many independent productions. I’ve produced music videos, short films, and a feature documentary film. Safe to say that I am also in the trenches with the loyal readers and contributors of Script – I know that I’m in great company.
As Script continues to evolve as a resource and inspiration for your writing and navigating your career, know that I’m right there beside you, cheering you on. If you have any topic suggestions you’d like to see covered or want to share what inspired you to choose Script as your screenwriting resource, feel free to leave a comment below.
Exciting new developments are in the works, so please stay tuned. Until then, keep on creating and writing!
